LIFE IN LOOPS. A visual remix.

Timo Novotny.

Timo Novotny labels his new project an experimental music documentary film, in a remix of the celebrated film Megacities (1997), a visually refined essay on the hidden faces of several world "Megacities" by leading Austrian documentarist Michael Glawogger. Novotny complements 30 % of material taken straight from the film (and re-edited) with 70 % as yet unseen footage in which he blends original shots unused by Glawogger with his own sequences (shot by Megacities cameraman Wolfgang Thaler) from Tokyo. Alongside the Japanese metropolis, Life in Loops takes us right into the atmosphere of Mexico City, New York, Moscow and Bombay. This electrifying combination of fascinating film images and an equally compelling soundtrack from Sofa Surfers sets us off on a stunning audiovisual adventure across the continents. The film also makes an original contribution to the discussion on new trends in documentary filmmaking.

The complex wooden sound of the doublebass is combined with the almost unlimited possibilities of the system formant modular synth from the 70's. The doublebass is amplified and "fed" into the filters and oscilators while triggering waveforms, envelopes and gates. The modules of the synth are cabled in realtime to arrange the musicpiece while the synth is shaping the sound of the bass. This technique is also used for live performances. Dafeldecker and Pulsinger are handing each other the material and providing the space for improvisation and reflection. The soundrange moves between fragile and infernal. Their first recording is the product of several sessions, an unedited, raw and unique capture of improvisation. The forthcoming album conjecture on cristian vogels label station55 is to be released in june 2008.

THE HUNDREDS.

The music features various influences, beside electronicas as "Dj Shadow", "Amon Tobin" etc., rock-acts like "The Jesus Lizard" and "Black Sabbath" up to singer/songwriters  as "Tom Waits", "Joni Mitchell" as well as the soundtracks of "Bernhard Hermann" or "David Lynch"  all merged together in a very organic and personal way by Wolfgang Frisch.

The live show will include Wolfgang Frisch on laptop, mixing console and livebass, doing live versions of his tracks in a mixture between club tracks and driving rock-beats up to even lyrical and cinematic moments, which will be visually supported by the epic and cinematic raw movies by TImo Novotny on a live video mixing-desk interacting to evolving music-tracks. Timo's main footage is recorded on Super8 and not only shows architectural bits from Megacities like Los Angeles, New York and Tokyo, it also contatins unseen scenes of a nigerain slaugtherhouse, which collaberates perfect with Wolgang's music and also gives the live show content.

ELECTRIC INIDIGO & C++. Dj set & visuals.

"To call her the most important woman in the Austrian electronic scene would be an insult: Electric Indigo long ago reached a level where conventional gender definitions are obsolete. As a DJ, she enjoys international rank, and as a producer she's becoming even more influential."
--- Sven Gaechter, Editor-in-Chief of Profil magazine and DJ.

DJ and musician, has rocked clubs, raves, and festivals in 35 countries. Her name stands for an intelligent interpretation of the terms "techno" and "party". She started her DJ career in Vienna in 1989 with jazz and funk sets, but soon found her style in the Detroit and Chicago techno sound. In her Berlin years (1993-1996), she was responsible for purchasing and communication for the legendary record dealer Hard Wax. In 1998 she created female:pressure, an international database for female DJs, producers, and visual artists who work in the fields of electronic music. female:pressure is a unique, web-based resource of female talent all around the globe and was built to enhance mutual support and communication as well as the general level of information about female artists. In 2002, DJ Electric Indigo played on the main stage of Detroit's Electronic Music Fest. 2004 she began to perform live - either in collaboration with musicians like Mia Zabelka, Dorit Chrysler, Pia Palme (mostly in some sort of art context ) or solo in clubs. 2003 Electric Indigo started her own record label indigo:inc recordings. For almost 7 years she has hosted a monthly indigo:inc night for "crazy" at the viennese flex club and since the beginning of 2006 she has presented a monthly radio show at the Vienna based play.fm called indigo:inc as well. 2007/2008 she produced the female:pressure dvd1, released on march 8th, 2008.

Her numerous recordings were released on lables like disko b, mueller, international deejay gigolos, indigo:inc, chicks on speed records, female:pressure.
